“Hello, amazing people!
I am Hira, a twenty-something years old artist-cum-designer from Pakistan currently living in the outskirts of Copenhagen. I am an explorer, a dreamer, and a reader. I dance and sing and breathe and sway. I am life and life is me. I am not that much of a talker though. Why gossip, I say to myself, when there is so much to listen to.
I love to walk or cycle around the cities I travel to. Buses and trains are fun too. Cars? Not so much. I love exploring the roads that are seldom walked by other travelers. It is in these, I believe, that we can see the soul of a city. Away from the humdrum and cacophony, the silence helps you speak to the city itself.
I graduated as a “Product Designer” in 2012 from National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan. I mostly freelance online and I am very new to blogging. I have always been fond of learning more about personal development, psychology, philosophy, arts, and design. (I am labeling these broad terms here and this doesn’t mean that I am an expert in any of them.)
About the Blog:
This blog is about keeping a public self-improvement journal. It’s about my personal struggles to grow as a person and about being able to make conscious decisions towards personal development and explore the role that art plays in our lives and self-development.
“Everything is Art”
The question is, are you conscious enough to see it?
The Plan:
I intend to commit to making a big change in my life and want to document the journey in the form of a digital Journal. Why make it public then?
I envision to make you think, start questioning and get inspired by my journey towards a better “me” to become a better “you”.
“Keeping a public journal of your struggles and triumphs can be very powerful, both for the author as well as for readers.” – Leo Gura
I always struggle with holding myself accountable for taking action and starting a journal could be my way out. As more people will read it, I will be held more accountable and I can gain encouragement and motivation to follow-through.
I always believed life is meant to be lived a little bigger than you. My vision for this blog and a better tomorrow is that we develop ourselves consciously and work on the things that matter the most to us, ourselves.
Yesterday, I came across a video of Mark Zuckerberg, Co-founder, and CEO of Facebook.
It said, “I was alone, I wondered if I was just wrong, an imposter, a 22-year-old kid who had no idea how things actually worked. Now, years later, I understand that there is how things work when there is no sense of higher purpose. So it’s up to all of us to create it so we can all keep moving forward together. One of my favorite stories is when JFK went to go visit the NASA Space Center and he saw a janitor holding a broom and he asked him what he was doing, and the janitor replied, “Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon.” The purpose is that feeling that you are a part of something bigger than yourself, that you are needed, and that you have something better ahead to work for. The purpose is what creates true happiness. J.K Rowling got rejected 12 times before she finally published Harry Potter. Even Beyoncé had to make hundreds of songs to get Halo. The greatest successes come from having the freedom to fail. Ideas don’t come out fully formed, they only become clearer as you work on them. You just have to get started.”
And that’s exactly what I am doing, getting started!

So awesome that you want to share your insights, your journey with others!
You say you’re not much of a talker, but I think you’re a great conversationalist and a great listener!
“…life is meant to be lived a little bigger than you.”
Sounds great. I’d love to read your interpretation of what that means to you.
“’Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon.’”
Love this, too. It’s too easy to feel the things we do are inconsequential, but we never know how many lives we’ve touched along the way.
What a great start to your blog!! <3
Thank you so much, Elyse!
Means a lot 🙂
I wish to find out what “..life is meant to be lived a little bigger than you” means to me along the way.
This is just the beginning, my friend!
I agree that making your journey public holds you more accountable. Good luck on your journey. Having a purpose is important, it’s what keeps us going. I hope you find yours. Maybe it’s sharing with strangers to show we all need a purpose.
Thank you, Karen 🙂 It means a lot!
